Gossamer Knot
1997, Installation at Painted Bride Art Center
Philadelphia, PA
The project began as a proposal for the Philadelphia
Airport. The original proposal called for a 20 foot ball
of razor wire to be suspended outdoors. It was
rejected for very good cause, how would airborne
trash be removed?
The piece was realized in the show Defining the Edge
curated by A.M. Weaver. The final piece was a 6 foot
ball of razor wire suspended 15 feet above the gallery
floor. Approximately 20, 100 watt bulbs were hung
around the ball. A large circle made of metal
screening was mounted on the back wall.
