Joy Vault, 2009
Metal Leaf and Birch Coffee Stirrers |

At first glance the work displays the nativity of
outsider work, but in fact is a well studied expression of pure joy. Thousands of gold banded wooden sticks appear to defy gravity. They march up the wall, commanded into seemingly impossible plateau. The chaos of a thousand drummers blending and melting into a coherent performance. Shards of light dance off the prismatic patterns that emerge and simultaneously recede. The form is drawn, then redrawn, as if a doodle pulled through to life. |
